Has anyone noticed that PSA 6 really takes
a lot more resources of a server.

    I tried the software on a old machine ( 200 mhz , 128 ram )
this is not recommended. Even for testing.
Other versions of PSA run fine.

What will this new resource consumption , due to JAVA,
do to my live systems when I upgrade them

Java needs a lot of memory and consumes resources. If you don't need tomcat, don't install it.

Yes...Java is a huge hog. We've also done performance benchmarks using different JDK's and the 1.4 and 1.4.1 JDK's are WAY slow and eat up more memory and CPU time. We've been sticking with Sun's JDK 1.3.1_08 as it's been the fastest for us so far.

I think the Tomcat distribution that comes in the Plesk archive has JDK 1.4 or 1.4.1. You might want to try dropping it to JDK 1.3.1 to see if it makes any difference.
